What’s true love you might ask. How do you know you are having true love? The Bible clearly defines what love is in first Corinthians 13:4-8a. It goes on to say what love is. It says love is patient, kind, it is not proud, it doesn’t boast and it is not envious. I could never put it down as nicely as the bible. I do believe that love is a process. You do not see a person and love them there and then, there has to be a few moments in which you looked at the person and felt like you really love him. Likewise, you cannot see a person and decide there and then that you do not like them. There has to be something they did to make you feel like you do not like them at all. But of course there is an exception on this, there are people who really see people and before they even utter a word they decide they do not like them or that they love them.
However, what’s true love? True love according to me is all about respecting each other. Without mutual respect existing between two people, they can not say that they love each other and that they love each other truly. Someone who embarrasses you when your friends and family members are around does not love you. Now, there is a great difference between embarrassing and teasing. People who tease you always love you, but people who embarrass you, that is a different story. Now, if the person you are having a relationship with has made it his habit to embarrass you by now you should know that he or she does not love you. In a way, they could even be passing a message to you that they do not love you and they keep hoping that you will get it and leave.
True love is never jealous. If you love someone and you are sure that the person loves you enough you should not be insecure about anything. If you see your boyfriend or girlfriend talking to someone else, you will not cause a great stir because you think he or she is seeing that person behind your back but rather you will sit back and relax and watch them talk and feel nothing but admiration for the person. You will also get busy talking with someone else without feeling guilty whatsoever. What’s true love again. True love is definitely not jealous.
True love is not possessive and obsessive. It lets the person be and allows the person to be free to do things on their own. It never dictates on anything. True love is about compromises and if the two of you cannot make compromises you should never say you love each other truly.
